Hi, I am Callum, the artist behind Moorse Art.
I am a UK-based portrait artist specialising in highly detailed graphite and charcoal commissions. My work focuses on creating realistic, hand-drawn portraits that capture both the precise likeness and the individual character of each subject. Every artwork is produced entirely by hand using archival materials to ensure lasting quality and depth of detail.
My approach to portrait drawing centres on patience, observation, and craftsmanship. Each commission is developed over many hours, carefully building layers of tone and structure to achieve a natural, lifelike result. Whether working from a single reference photograph or multiple images, my goal is to create a portrait that feels authentic and personal to the client.
Over time, I have developed a strong focus on commissioned portrait work, producing artworks for collectors, families, and pet owners seeking meaningful custom pieces. I work with a limited number of commissions each month to maintain the highest standard of detail and attention for every portrait I create.
Portraiture is important to me because it preserves moments, memories, and personalities that matter. Creating artwork that holds emotional value for clients is the most rewarding part of my practice, and each commission is approached with that responsibility in mind.
Outside of the studio, I am a husband, father, and dog owner, which gives me a personal appreciation for the connection people share with the subjects they commission. Living with animals and family life daily reinforces the importance of capturing genuine personality and presence in each portrait. That perspective shapes the care and attention I bring to every piece I create.
I welcome commission enquiries throughout the year. If you would like to discuss a custom portrait, please visit the commission page or submit an enquiry to begin the process.
